EP Review: My Hollow 'Fighting My Monsters'

Updated: Apr 11, 2022

Canadian progressive/groove death metal leviathans My Hollow release an epically engrossing EP that's about to turn heads this month, Fighting the Monsters.

Deafening proof that a good band will always rise to the occasion to prove their worth in the death metal genre, My Hollow comes in with unrelenting fury with their invigorating EP release, Fighting the Monsters. An explosive burst of creative zest and melodically defining chaos, My Hollow wants to prove that they are at the top of their game as a progressive death metal band, and Fighting With Monsters is definitely setting the tone.

“High-octane moments like "Vultures" start the EP off right. Ambitious in size, it keeps the momentum going for the rest of the heavy metal epic. Beautifully ariose and technically impressive, this will quickly become a favorite on Fighting with Monsters. ”

Bearing their teeth with innovatory energy, the Canadian groove death metal band's new EP is a colossal leviathan of an experience, packed with five giant blazer-like tracks, boasting epic depth and poignancy. Highly absorptive for a five-track experience, it is one that you will want to listen to again once the energetic rush has kicked off and settled in from the first listen.

High-octane moments like "Vultures" start the EP off right. Ambitious in size, it keeps the momentum going for the rest of the heavy metal epic. Beautifully ariose and technically impressive, this will quickly become a favorite on Fighting the Monsters. Other gorgeously imposing tracks such as "The Iron Harvest" are daring, engaging, and breakneck exhausting in the best ways.

A brutal and captivating piece of work from start to finish that lyrically deals with a myriad of deep themes, Fighting with Monsters is a personal triumph of an EP for a band in terms of maturity, growth, and depth. If they continue to weave such titanic feats much like this for the future of their careers, the future looks quite promising for these Canadian heavy hitters.
