Trap metal/nu-metal band Swarm6ix release their new dynamic and red-hot single, "Fuego."
Some experiences in life change our perception of what we will use our talents for going forward for the rest of our lives. For UK band Swarm6ix, it was not just about developing dark, trap metal experiences to push the boundaries on where the genre can go instrumentally, but creating a message that extended far beyond wordless connection. Swarm6ix wanted to provide a safe haven for those that looked antisocial, passive, and reclusive on the surface. The band would use these energies to develop their own distinct identity, fusing a love of powerful trap, nu-metal, and metal elements with a strong belief in artistic independence.
"Fuego" is about being exposed to the possibility of death...praying to God to save the ones you care about... That dream when you can't fight anymore and want to, and the horrible things you have no control over that weigh you down to the point where you consider... This can't be it...Life cannot be this terrible... God cannot be this cruel
With influences that span from Ghostmane to Emmure, Swarm6ix has created a sound that is both nostalgic and comforting to its listeners. With such a prismatic sound armed at their arsenal, Swarm6ix is ready to take the scene by storm with their new single, "Fuego." Following on from their debut singles "d0pamine" and "$OCIAL $UICIDE," "Fuego" takes on a more dissonant and personal approach to their sound. While the band is still currently enjoying the success of their first two singles, "Fuego" further proves that the band still has more surprises left on the table this year. Catch the band playing Tech Fest later this year!
What inspired Swarm6ix?
Through lockdown, guitarist Dan found other genres, more dark trap metal bands, and a large repertoire of new angels. Eleven demos were created using GHOSTEMANE/SUICIDEBOYS as inspirations. We were then encouraged to spend the money on turning these demos into genuine styles and rebuilding them from the bottom up with a renowned producer. We contacted George Lever and Nathan Smart, who saw our concept and assisted us in designing SWARM6IX.
What are your musical influences? What inspires you to create music within the heavy trap and metal genre?
Ghostemane as an artist and his entire philosophy on life inspired us and connected with us as a band.
How did the creative process for your first single challenge you as an artist to explore and make this new single, "Dopamine?" How was this different for "Fuego?"
This was a completely alien recording process to us. Not only was it primarily written and recorded over Zoom, but George and Nathan's techniques were unlike anything we'd ever seen. It has greatly aided us as songwriters and music fans. If we’re being honest, we found that process quite enjoyable, "Fuego" displays our own personalities shining through a bit more, with quirkier vocal styles and juvenile riffs.
What is "Dopamine" lyrically diving into? Can we talk about that?
It is primarily about addiction. This truly touches home for me, and I'm sure it does for many others. Personally, I've watched individuals around me degrade due to addiction, and I've suffered myself... it's a difficult hole to be in, and an even more difficult hole to come out of...
While "Dopamine" talks of addiction, "Fuego" seems to be talking about becoming immune to the thought of death somewhat, and the painful emotions that may stem up, is that fair to say, can we elaborate more?
Sure, Fuego is about being exposed to the possibility of death...praying to God to save the ones you care about... That dream when you can't fight anymore and want to, and the horrible things you have no control over that weigh you down to the point where you consider... This can't be it...Life cannot be this terrible... God cannot be this cruel.
What do you feel Swarm6ix means on a deeper level?
For us, It's about change, a new era, and a total rebranding. It's the next important step in our music-industry careers.
What are you hoping listeners take from this new single?
Honestly, if they can take away anything from something we have written, we’re happy!
What is next for you?
At the moment, we still have five tracks to release and hope to have a label to back us up so we can keep writing/recording and travel as much as possible!
