Album Review: Defocus - There Is A Place For Me On Earth

Aalen/Stuttgart metalcore band Defocus refines the atmospheric and brutal nature of their sound with second album, There Is A Place For Me On Earth.

Defocus is a band that exudes dynamism and power through their music. With a shared mission to create some of the most captivating soundscapes in the music scene, Defocus has been making waves since 2019. Their unwavering creative resolve led them to create their debut masterpiece, In The Eye of Death We Are All The Same. Amidst the challenges posed by a global lockdown, Defocus channeled their energy and passion into their music, resulting in an annihilating and breathtaking experience that enraptured the soul. Now the band has embarked on releasing one of their most raw and intense ventures this year, There Is A Place For Me On Earth. After refining their sound, the Aalen/Stuttgart heavy hitters are embracing a new chapter in their lives with a renewed sense of purpose.

Through the use of harsh and dark emotional cadence, Defocus creates a hauntingly beautiful soundscape that reverberates with the listener long after the album ends.

There Is A Place For Me On Earth opens with a captivating track called "Let The Bond Be My Grave." Known for their commanding energies, intense rhythms, and immersive soundscapes, their unique blend of brutal and dreamy elements manages to create a truly exceptional listening experience that will take you on an explosive musical journey like no other.

Other noteworthy aspects to be found on the album are "Watch Me Bleed," "Crooked Mind," and "don't let it hurt Me," which produce a combination of hard-hitting technicality and intense emotion. Skillfully incorporating baroscopic melodies into their arsenal, Defocus adds a layer of depth and beauty to their already aggressive style, allowing its clean moments and emotional depth to shine through its fierce contention.

The final tracks of the band's second album, "Flatlines" and "There Is A Place For Me On Earth," are a testament to the band's ability to infuse their music with intense emotional depth. Through the use of harsh and dark emotional cadence, Defocus creates a hauntingly beautiful soundscape that reverberates with the listener long after the album ends.

These tracks are a showcase of the band's skillful use of incandescence and instrumentation, where each note is carefully sewn together to evoke something empyreal and thought-provoking. As the album comes to a close, There Is A Place For Me On Earth leaves a lasting impression on the listener, cementing the band's reputation as masters of their craft.
