Album Review: Endeavour - 'For The Time Being'

Rising Netherlands metalcore band Endeavour release their captivating debut album, For The Time Being.

When it comes to contemporary metalcore upstarts, none are more hungry to stake their claim in the genre than the mint Netherlands metalcore band Endeavour. The five-piece have worked diligently to detail their first album, For The Time Being. With a colorfully dualistic, brutal approach of post-hardcore and metalcore, Endeavour comes swinging with a sound that is an immersive and towering experience from start to finish.

Mixing melodious vocals with dazzling, fierce elements, Endeavour impressively showcases their melodic capabilities with each track they create.

For The Time Being starts with an intumescent experience, "Definite." With commanding breaks, captivating choruses, and engulfing guitar sections, as well as evocative structures, Endeavour opens up the instrumental floodgates of their debut album for more smooth and more aggressively rich experiences to come.

Other moments, such as "Blur" and "Black Box," are explosive moments that continue to mold the dissonant sound that shapes For The Time Being. Mixing melodious vocals with dazzling, fierce elements, Endeavour impressively showcases their melodic capabilities with each track they create.

For The Time Being has a mix of EDM-infused and slower-paced tracks like "Colourblind" and "Sober", which offer a slight variation in instrumental flavor while maintaining the album's overall heavy presence. The song "Colourblind" is a distinct addition to the album, introducing a fresh and unprecedented sound to the album's collection of tracks.

For The Time Being comes to a close with a gorgeous push-and-pull experience, "127," and an attention-grabbing finale, "For The Time Being." Expanding their sound even further than any of the last tracks, Endeavor takes everything they have given within this record and continues to breathe new life into their sound up until the final track. These two tracks showcase that the band still has many surprises up their sleeves, even when you think you have their sound figured out. It leaves us eagerly anticipating what they have in store for their next album.

For a first album, For The Time Being showcases a range of instrumental and lyrical abilities that give the impression that the band is already well-seasoned into their album cycles, which is quite impressive for a band on the rise. Although Endeavour is a new band, their talent, and experience exceed the expectations that come with being new heavy hitters on the scene.
