In the latest episode of Into The Void, I spoke with the Australian alt-rock foursome, Redhook. We talked about the sonic influences, their debut album, 'Postcard From A Living Hell,' their national headline tour, and more!
Redhook is one of the most fiercely independent, dissonant, alternative-rock forces in the scene currently in the scene today. Starting with their 2021 EP Bad Decisions, their long-awaited EP would earn them well-deserved praise, scooping them the 2022 AIR Independent Music Awards nomination for best punk EP or album.
"'Postcard Xo' is a pretty dark song, both musically and thematically. It's about finding yourself back in the familiar landscape of rock bottom after a string of preventable fuck-ups, wrestling with feelings of guilt, shame and worthlessness, and wishing the worst for yourself - because that's exactly what you feel like you deserve."
This ultimately propelled them forward for their debut album, Postcard From A Living Hell, one of their most explosive releases in their still-budding careers. Beautifully fusing elements of metalcore, pop-punk, nu-metal, alt-rock, and classic metal with trap, EDM, and pop, Redhook has shown that they are the most charismatic and creative bands in the scene, and this latest album is shining proof of their growth over the past few years.
We talk about this and more in this latest episode of Into The Void.
